Photo Album: Cabling Trees Together

When two stems or trunks develop together they often end up with a very tight space between them.  Increasing growth in each component results in a wedge of tissue that can include a layer of bark.  This wedge is often a weak spot and when excessive motion between the two stems occurs, they split apart, generally leading to one piece falling away. It can sometimes be prevented with a cabling system.
