Stump Grinding

Stump grinding is the process used to remove a stump that is in the way, however, not every stump needs to be ground out. For the stumps that do need grinding, we offer this service, only for trees we have removed, but not as a stand alone service. Prior to grinding, we call in a ‘utility locate’ for stumps to be sure we don’t have any underground utility conflicts.  A stump grinder uses sharp, spinning knives to methodically chip away at a stump until it gets ground up into a pile of wood chips mixed with soil. Most stumps can be ground to about 6-8-inches below grade. This results in a large mound of chips mixed with soil,  that can then be spread to act as mulch to the landscape and will slowly decompose to fill in the hole.
